About Plungepedia

Plungepedia: the UK's cold plunge encyclopaedia. Every tub and chiller, compared honestly.

Plungepedia is an independent UK review and reference site for cold plunge tubs, ice baths and chillers. It is published by Hanihen Limited, a company registered in Ireland, and is not owned by, invested in by, or affiliated with any cold plunge manufacturer or retailer.

What we do

  • Maintain a complete catalogue of every cold plunge tub and chiller sold in the UK, with specifications and UK prices tracked over time.
  • Write buying guides and comparisons from that data, in pounds, for UK homes, gardens and 230V sockets.
  • Buy and use the products that matter, and publish verdicts with photos and video. Aodhan has used six units over three years so far.
  • State the safety risks plainly on every page.

How we make money

Some links on the site are affiliate links: if you buy through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Some brands also provide discount codes for our readers. Commission does not decide verdicts; brands that pay us a commission are listed with their codes on our deals page, and every page with a buy link says its links may earn us one. Full details in our affiliate disclosure.

Who writes this

Plungepedia is written by Aodhan, who grew up in Ireland and recently moved to the UK.

I started cold plunging at 19, in my first year of college, when I began going to the gym and wanted something for recovery. The first tub I used was the basic one our college sports team kept: fine, but far too small. I got a better one as a birthday present, then over the next three years tried most of the popular UK and Irish options, six units in all, from Lumi and The Pod Company to a Brass Monkey in a hotel.

That is where the frustrations came from. Too many "brands" are the same Chinese tub with a different logo, and nothing on the listing tells you. Cheap filters do not work, and the water goes murky and starts to smell within a week. One tub would not fit through my front door, which we discovered on delivery day. In my family and among friends, one plunge needed an electrician for a protected socket, and another was placed with no drain nearby, which ended in a muddy mess before it was moved.

None of that appears in a spec sheet, so I built the site I wanted to read: every tub and chiller sold in the UK, with real prices, real running costs, the door width and the drain question up front, and verdicts only on units I have actually used.

Editorial policy

  • Every product page states the date its price and specifications were last checked, and where each figure came from.
  • "Tested" means Aodhan has used the unit; untested products say so plainly.
  • Verdicts are never changed for commercial reasons. Brands can correct a factual error by emailing us; they cannot buy a rating.
  • We name white-label and rebadged products as such when we can establish it.
  • Safety information, including cardiovascular contraindications, appears on every page that discusses use.
