The money in a cold plunge is the chiller, not the tub. Plungepedia's catalogue has 9 complete setups under £1,000 and 3 between £1,000 and £2,000 (one of those, the Monk Nomad with Shiver, was sold out on 5 October 2026), and every one of them is a tub sold with a separate chiller: the cheapest all-in-one, with the chiller built into the shell, starts at £2,999. So a budget under £2,000 is really a question of which chiller you can afford, and whether it heats.
Updated 5 October 2026: the Monk Nomad with the Shiver has sold out; it stays in the table with a note, and the Kove Core with the Pro chiller is now our in-stock pick above £1,000. Earlier, on 29 September: the Lumi Pod Pro with Mini Chiller 2 is no longer a pick; the company behind Lumi is in administration and its shop has passed to a different firm, so Lumi's bundles stay in the tables with an explanation below them. Earlier, on 26 September: the Pod Company's Ice Pod Pro with the Pod Chiller is back in stock.

Every complete setup under £1,000
Sorted by price. "Chiller" is what the maker publishes about it; several give horsepower or a maximum tub size instead of a cooling figure, which is itself worth knowing.
| Setup | Price | Litres | Chiller | Coldest | Warranty |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Pod Company Ice Pod Pro + Pod Chiller | £598 | 420 | 1/3 HP, cooling not stated | 5C | 12 months |
| The Pod Company Long Pod + Pod Chiller | £698 | 480 | 1/3 HP, cooling not stated | 5C | 12 months |
| Kove Arctic + Core chiller | £749 | 450 | 0.5 HP, 1,200 W | 3C | 24 months |
| Lumi Pod Max Ultra + Mini Chiller 2 | £758 | 420 | "445 W", app | 2C | 6 months on the tub |
| MyoMaster MyoIce Pro + MyoChill | £799 | 400 | Rated to 600 L, cooling not stated | 3C | 12 months |
| Lumi Pod Pro + Mini Chiller 2 | £873 | 450 | "445 W", app | 2C | 12 months |
| Lumi Pro 8 + Mini Chiller 2 | £948 | 520 | "445 W", app | 2C | 12 months |
| MyoMaster MyoIce Elite + MyoChill | £999 | 525 | Rated to 600 L, cooling not stated | 3C | 12 months |
| MyoMaster MyoFreeze + MyoChill | £999 | 600 | Rated to 600 L, cooling not stated | 3C | 12 months |
All nine are cold only. Lumi's "445 W" is not labelled as cooling or power draw; our chiller guide explains why that difference matters.
The pick under £1,000: Kove Arctic with the Core chiller, £749
It is the only setup in the table with a cooling figure the maker labels as cooling (1,200 W from a half-horsepower compressor), the only one with two years on the whole setup, and the tub has a 5 cm insulated drop-stitch wall, so the chiller runs less. It holds 3C, filters through a hair filter and a 5 micron inline filter, and draws 695 W while running, which at the current price cap is about £9 a month for a lidded tub in mild weather. It has no app and no heating. Code PLUNGEPEDIA takes 5% off at Kove, and our links apply it for you.
Why the Lumi bundles are not picked
On paper, Lumi's three bundles are the only setups in the table with app control and a 2C minimum. The Pod Pro with the Mini Chiller 2 (£873) adds three-stage ozone filtration and a hard-walled pod with a 5 cm air gap; the Pro 8 bundle (£948) widens the gap to 8 cm and holds 520 litres. What has changed is the business behind them. Lumi Therapy Ltd, the company behind the brand, entered administration on 29 August 2025, and the administration, handled by FRP Advisory, was extended in August 2026. The Lumi shop is now operated by Sno Solutions Ltd, a separate company incorporated in July 2025. Of the 200 most recent English-language Trustpilot reviews of Lumi, 125 give one or two stars (an average of 2.5, against an overall TrustScore of 3.8 from about 5,000 reviews), and unanswered emails, stalled warranty claims, split seams and chillers that stop working come up again and again. If you want an app, the Kove Pro chiller and the Monk Shiver, both covered under "Between £1,000 and £2,000" below, have one (the Shiver is in stock on its own at £895; the bundle with the Nomad tub is sold out).
The cheapest way in: The Pod Company Ice Pod Pro with Pod Chiller, £598
On paper it does the job, and it is the lowest price for a tub that holds its temperature without ice. It was back in stock at our last check, as was the Long Pod with the same chiller (£698). Know what you are buying: a third-horsepower chiller that stops at 5C, a year's warranty (extendable to two at extra cost), and, on r/coldplunge, one Pod Company chiller owner describing a thermostat that misread the water temperature, which priming the pump fixed only at first. In a cool garage it is enough. In a south-facing garden in July it will struggle.
The most water: MyoMaster MyoFreeze with MyoChill, £999
Six hundred litres for tall users or anyone who wants to lie back, with a chiller MyoMaster rates for exactly that volume. MyoMaster publishes no cooling figure for the MyoChill, and its Trustpilot profile is large (2,160 reviews, 4.5 in September 2026) with about one review in eight at one star.
Build it yourself for less, or for heat
Buying the tub and the chiller separately rarely saves money against a bundle from the same brand (Kove's Core tub and Core chiller cost £199 plus £599, more than the Arctic bundle), but it is the only way to get heating under £1,000. Polar Recovery's Ultra Mini (£799.99) chills to 1C and heats to 38C, and paired with a £199 Kove Core tub the total stays under £1,000. It is a small unit (280 W draw, no cooling figure published), so it suits a lidded tub in shade; check that its hose fittings match the tub's ports before you order.
Between £1,000 and £2,000
| Setup | Price | What the extra money buys |
|---|---|---|
| Lumi Pro Duo + Mini Chiller 2 | £1,048 | A 500 L bath shape with an 8 cm air gap, for lying back; not a pick, for the support reasons set out above |
| Monk Nomad + Shiver | £1,295 | An 880 W chiller with app control and two years on the chiller. Sold out on 5 October 2026; Monk has a waitlist |
| Kove Core + Kove Pro chiller | £199 + £1,199 | Heat and cold (3 to 42C), 2,500 W of stated cooling, UV and ozone, app, two years on both |
| Urban Ice Tribe Home User 5ft | £1,864 | A complete heat-and-cool stock tank system: galvanised 5 ft tank, cover, Poolex O'Spa Flow heat pump (2 to 40C), filter |
For cold only, our pick was the Monk Nomad with the Shiver. The Shiver states 880 W of cooling where Lumi publishes an unlabelled 445 W, it has an app, and it carries two years; the Nomad is a 500 litre drop-stitch tub that stands firm. Monk's upgrade path is the reason to choose it: the Shiver moves to a rigid Cocoon shell later without buying another chiller. The bundle was sold out when we checked on 5 October 2026, with a waitlist open, so for now the setup we would order in this band is the Kove one below.
For heat and cold, the Kove Core with Kove's Pro chiller. It costs less than the Urban Ice Tribe system and publishes more: 2,500 W of cooling, 3,600 W of heating, 1,050 W drawn, UV and ozone, and Kove's own figure of about five hours to take 400 litres from 23C to 5C. The Urban Ice Tribe Home User is the better buy if you want one box to order and a steel tank that will not puncture; it states no volume, cooling figure or tank insulation, so keep the cover on. Codes: PLUNGEPEDIA takes 5% off at both Kove and Urban Ice Tribe.
What £2,000 will not buy
An all-in-one. The chiller-inside-the-shell designs from Chill Tubs, Outdoor Living, Steam & Oak and others start at £2,999, and a timber, stainless or rigid tub such as Kove's Cedar Upright (£1,849) or Monk's Cocoon (£1,995) takes most of a £2,000 budget before any chiller. If you want one of those, our tub plus chiller versus all-in-one guide sets out what the extra buys.
If you would rather skip the chiller altogether, a lidded pod and tap water covers October to April for under £200; the inflatable and portable guide picks those.
How we chose
Every live setup in the catalogue at or under £2,000 was compared on UK price, stated cooling, minimum temperature, heating, capacity, insulation, filtration and warranty, read from the maker's page. Owner comments come from Trustpilot and r/coldplunge and are described as what owners report. We have not tested these setups ourselves. Running costs use the same model as our running costs guide. Before the first plunge, read the safety guide: cold water raises heart rate and blood pressure sharply.
Frequently asked questions
Can you get a cold plunge with a chiller for under £1,000 in the UK?
Yes. Plungepedia lists 9 complete setups under £1,000, all of them a tub sold with a separate chiller, from £598 (The Pod Company's Ice Pod Pro with its Pod Chiller). For a 450 litre tub, the Kove Arctic with the Core chiller (£749) is the only one in that group with a labelled cooling figure and the only one with two years on the whole setup. No all-in-one comes in under £1,000; the cheapest starts at £2,999.
What is the best cold plunge under £2,000?
A Kove Core tub (£199) with Kove's Pro chiller (£1,199) is the one we would order now: it cools and heats (3 to 42C), states 2,500 W of cooling, and carries two years on both parts. For cold only, our pick was the Monk Nomad with the Shiver (£1,295, app control and an 880 W chiller with a two-year warranty), but it was sold out, with a waitlist, when we checked on 5 October 2026.
Is a cheap cold plunge worth it?
A cheap tub, yes: from October to April UK tap water is cold enough with no chiller at all. A cheap chiller is where the savings show. The chiller in the cheapest bundles is a third of a horsepower and stops at 5C, which is fine in a garage and hard work in summer sun. A half-horsepower unit with a stated cooling figure is the upgrade that matters.
Does any cold plunge under £2,000 heat as well as chill?
Yes, by pairing parts or buying a stock tank system. The cheapest complete setup that heats is Urban Ice Tribe's Home User 5ft (£1,864); a Kove Core tub with Kove's Pro chiller costs less, at £199 plus £1,199. Under £1,000 it means pairing a heat-capable chiller with a budget tub, for example Polar Recovery's Ultra Mini (£799.99) with a Kove Core.
