Our take

The Chill Tubs Halo Commercial Chiller is a chiller (cooling only) sold in the UK at £3,000.

Key specifications: a minimum water temperature of 3C, heating for contrast therapy.

We have not tested this unit ourselves; the take below is built from the maker's specifications, the UK price and what owners report.

What to buy with it

  • Chill Tubs does not state what the Halo Commercial Chiller draws, so a plug-in meter is the only way to know its running cost. MECHEER plug-in energy monitor (£11.88 at Amazon UK, 4.5 stars from 5,400 ratings)
  • The display tells you the temperature at the chiller's inlet. A thermometer floating in the tub tells you what you are actually sitting in. Intex floating pool thermometer (£7.49 at Amazon UK, 4.4 stars from 4,444 ratings)
  • No ozone or UV is stated for the Halo Commercial Chiller, so the water needs a sanitiser between changes. Bio Ouster 3-in-1 weekly cold plunge treatment (£48.86 at Amazon UK, 4.5 stars from 543 ratings)

Cold water immersion places real stress on the heart and circulation. Anyone with a cardiovascular condition, high blood pressure, a history of arrhythmia, or who is pregnant should speak to a doctor before using a cold plunge. Never plunge alone. Start with short sessions at mild temperatures and progress gradually. Read the full safety guide.
