Our take

The Urban Ice Tribe Luxury Acrylic Ice Bath is a tub (add your own chiller) sold in the UK at £995 (RRP £2,496).

Key specifications: Acrylic construction, no chiller included.

We have not tested this unit ourselves; the take below is built from the maker's specifications, the UK price and what owners report.

What to buy with it

  • This is a tub only, so from May to September it means buying ice or adding a chiller. Urban Ice Tribe's own chiller is the Poolex O'Spa Heat Pump Chiller (£645), which cools to 3C and heats as well; check with Urban Ice Tribe that it suits this tub before you order. Urban Ice Tribe Poolex O'Spa Heat Pump Chiller
  • Urban Ice Tribe lists no filtration for this tub, so keeping the water clean between changes is down to you. Bio Ouster 3-in-1 weekly cold plunge treatment (£48.86 at Amazon UK, 4.5 stars from 543 ratings)
  • Without a chiller you are guessing the temperature from the tap and the weather; a floating thermometer ends the guessing. Intex floating pool thermometer (£7.49 at Amazon UK, 4.4 stars from 4,444 ratings)

Cold water immersion places real stress on the heart and circulation. Anyone with a cardiovascular condition, high blood pressure, a history of arrhythmia, or who is pregnant should speak to a doctor before using a cold plunge. Never plunge alone. Start with short sessions at mild temperatures and progress gradually. Read the full safety guide.
