Our take

The Balance Recovery Insignia 1900 Commercial Ice Bath is an all-in-one with built-in chiller sold in the UK at £6,995.

Key specifications: a built-in chiller, a minimum water temperature of 0C, heating for contrast therapy.

Its UK price has held steady across the 3 checks in our price history.

We have not tested this unit ourselves; the take below is built from the maker's specifications, the UK price and what owners report.

What to buy with it

  • Our running-cost figures are estimates. A plug-in meter between the socket and the chiller gives you the real number. MECHEER plug-in energy monitor (£11.88 at Amazon UK, 4.5 stars from 5,400 ratings)
  • Climbing out with cold feet over a high rim is where people slip. A non-slip step costs little. Crystals anti-slip bath step (£13.97 at Amazon UK, 4.6 stars from 578 ratings)
  • A chiller reads the water where it enters the unit, which is not always what is around your chest; a floating thermometer settles it. Intex floating pool thermometer (£7.49 at Amazon UK, 4.4 stars from 4,444 ratings)

Compare with alternatives

Notes from the retailer's product page: One 870 W unit cools to 0C and heats to 40C on an ordinary 13 A socket (about 3.8 A running). Ozone and two-stage filtration, LED lighting, a cedar step and a bar counter built into the cabinet; seated, one person. Insignia publish neither the fill volume nor the dry weight (the retailer calculates about 400 L). Warranty 1 year on shell and electrics, parts only, and the page says it assumes domestic use despite the commercial name. Specifications verified 2026-09-26.

Cold water immersion places real stress on the heart and circulation. Anyone with a cardiovascular condition, high blood pressure, a history of arrhythmia, or who is pregnant should speak to a doctor before using a cold plunge. Never plunge alone. Start with short sessions at mild temperatures and progress gradually. Read the full safety guide.
