We have not tested this unit ourselves; the take below is built from the maker's specifications, the UK price and what owners report.

What to buy with it

  • Our running-cost figures are estimates. A plug-in meter between the socket and the chiller gives you the real number. MECHEER plug-in energy monitor (£11.88 at Amazon UK, 4.5 stars from 5,400 ratings)
  • Water care: a filter catches debris but does not sanitise, so budget for a treatment. Bio Ouster 3-in-1 weekly cold plunge treatment (£48.86 at Amazon UK, 4.5 stars from 543 ratings)
  • A chiller reads the water where it enters the unit, which is not always what is around your chest; a floating thermometer settles it. Intex floating pool thermometer (£7.49 at Amazon UK, 4.4 stars from 4,444 ratings)

Cold water immersion places real stress on the heart and circulation. Anyone with a cardiovascular condition, high blood pressure, a history of arrhythmia, or who is pregnant should speak to a doctor before using a cold plunge. Never plunge alone. Start with short sessions at mild temperatures and progress gradually. Read the full safety guide.
